'WAEC Announces Date To Release 2024 WASSCE Results'

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reportedly picked August 5 for the release of the results for candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

An announcement said to have originated from WAEC and trending on social media said the examination body apologized for the delay in the release of results, but said the candidates would start having access to their results online as from Monday, August 5.

The announcement read, “WAEC has officially announced that the WAEC 2024 results will be out on Monday, August 5, 2024.

“The West African Examinations Council has acknowledged that certain challenges led to delayed releasing the results.

“While apologising for the delay, WAEC has assured all candidates who participated in the examination that 99.5% of the SSCE results are ready and will be available online soon.’’

While Naija News was unable to independently confirm the message as efforts to get a confirmation from the WAEC Lagos Office, Head of Nigeria Office, Dr Amos Dangut, were unsuccessful, Punch quoted a source from the WAEC Office in Kwara State to have confirmed the statement.

The source said WAEC would soon upload an official statement on its website and official social media handles to that effect.

“This is true. A statement should be up on the website and social media handle any moment from now,” he answered when asked if the said information was true.

Naija News recalls that WAEC had earlier confirmed it had commenced the marking and coordination for the 2024 WASSCE.

“The Coordination and Marking Exercise for the just concluded WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024 has commenced.

“The exercise will be carried out in 86 marking venues and 3 E-marking venues spread across the federation,” WAEC wrote on its X platform on July 10.
